You're Being Ridiculous is super excited to kick off 2018 as part of Steppenwolf's LookOut Series-Steppenwolf's performance series that presents the work of artists and companies across genre and form. We're delighted to welcome Erika Napoletano to YBR to share a story with us ... learn a little about Erika here and get your tickets!
Erika Napoletano is a Chicago-based creator who’s taller than a toaster but shorter than the average taco truck. That’s probably not important, but just so you have a spatial perspective, y’know? She goes through life with a limited number of fucks and is particular with how and with whom they are spent. You might have seen her on stage, wearing flannel pajama bottoms while walking her dog, or standing on the wrong side of the El platform. Her mission in life is to tell stories that don’t suck so folx can slow down for a damn minute, listen, love, and find the shared bits of humanity that connect their souls.
What do you love, what can you not live without?
The thing I cannot live without is my copy of Stephen King’s “On Writing.” As a writer and creator, it’s touchstone for un-fucking a process that’s easy to fuck up — bringing characters and stories to life without wasting people’s time.
