You're Being Ridiculous is super excited to be back at Uncommon Ground, Edgewater with a fun fall show for you! AND ... we're delighted to welcome Jennon Bell Hoffmann to YBR to share a story with us ... learn a little about Jennon here and get your tickets!
Jennon Bell Hoffmann is a freelance writer, editor, and dance party enthusiast. You may have seen her perform at Funny Ha Ha, Story Club, Story Studio, Story Lab, or a few years ago at Second City Conservatory. Or maybe you haven't. Either way, it's cool that you're here now. Hi!
What are you thankful for this year??
1) Podcasts. For the most part, I like hanging out with my toddler, but when it's time for a nap, I do not fuck [can I swear?] around. The car is a fail-safe way to get her to sleep so I plan our day around errands and activities that require a good-length drive. Cue up some podcasts, grab coffee or drive-thru french fries, and hit the streets. It's quality parenting at it's best.
2) The Good Place. I parent during the day and work during nap time and nighttime, so watching TV--let alone multicam sitcoms on network television--are not high on my list for down-time activities. But NBC's The Good Place is just. so. great. Ted Danson is a national treasure. And it's fun to think about the afterlife as the Apocalypse is upon us.
3) French Silk Pie. Not the Sara Lee kind. Not the supermarket, single-serve, I'm-having-a-cheat-day! kind. Not the Market Day/Costco knock-off kind. It's the OG Bakers Square FSP with curly-q chocolate swirls on top. It's decadent, it's luscious, it's accessible without being necessary, it's as basic as you get. The 5 minutes you have to wait at the Bakers Square counter to get that telltale red pie box is worth the stench of overcooked french fry oil that seeps into your hair and clothes. I love everything about it.
