You're Being Ridiculous is super excited to kick of 2019 with a return to Steppenwolf as part of their LookOut Series -- a performance series that presents the work of artists and companies across genre and form. We're delighted to welcome JH Palmer to YBR to share a story with us ... learn a little about JH here and get your tickets!
JH Palmer is a writer, performer, and everybody's favorite aunt. Her superpowers include the ability to complain about plantar fasciitis, detail the joys and pitfalls of home ownership, and get into a situation where she needs your help jumping a graveyard fence all in the same twelve hour period. Her work has appeared in The Toast, Story Club Magazine, and is forthcoming in The Thread. According to that twinning thing, she's a 41.5% match for Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
What are your wishes for 2019?
1. My first wish for 2019 is for Chicago to elect a decent mayor;
2. My second wish for 2019 is to see some amazing natural wonders - maybe Yellowstone or Joshua Tree, or I could just watch "Springsteen on Broadway" on Netflix as many times as possible.
3. My third wish for 2019 is to witness fewer disgusting things on public transportation. In the past year I've seen a woman on the #82 Kimball-Homan bus sneeze a huge glob of snot onto her hand and then look around helplessly for someone to hand her a tissue; watched a man cover one nostril and shoot snot onto the sidewalk out of the other before boarding the #78 Montrose bus; and saw a man pull up his pants after taking a crap on the brown line tracks at Paulina... and then made eye contact with me.
